Poem of Growth

You tried to break me
Shatter me and extract my core
But I am only cracked
Tiny fractures, which will heal with time

My essence remains
Buried within my depressed heart
A heart which has been bruised
Hurt time and again, but still viable

My spirit may have scars
You may have defaced my character
But still I will flourish
Blossoming, becoming more beautiful

You thought you had won,
Thought I wouldn't stand on my own
Now you are the buffoon
Witnessing my dawning perseverance

When I sit down to write, I just let everything flow while trying to narrow my thoughts to one topic. This week, I was having problems getting out what I wanted to say so I saved that draft and started something just for me….Just to get some thoughts out. This poem is that result. Different from my normal blogs, I know, but this is what happened to tumble out this week. Hope you enjoy!
