How’s Your Covid Quarantine Going?

First few weeks of quarantine…things were good. My kids were happy to be out of school The oldest two were enjoying their break from waking early and getting dressed for the day. My middle schooler could wake up, grab her I-pad and do her school work before ever getting out of bed….she was enjoying her new routine. My high schooler could finish his work first thing in the morning and then spend the rest of his day on video games with friends. They were happy and truth be told, I was happy to have them home and to have no obligations which required me to don uncomfortable clothes. Things were good. But…A little over a month into this quarantine, and my kids are all starting to go stir crazy.

I can understand my kids growing disinterest in our isolation though. I am starting to struggle with boredom, which is a rarity for me. I prefer staying at home. I enjoy watching a good movie (even one I have seen a hundred times), reading as many books as I can, crafting something, playing with my littlest munchkin, anything stress free to keep my self busy and my mind focused. I have had no time for my hobbies this past week. My kids are starting to fight, my husband is working from home and occupying our bedroom/computer all day, and even my dogs seem to want more from me. The chaos is becoming quite stressful.

I miss my quiet time!!!

I could keep all the kids entertained in the beginning. School work and then activities throughout the day and they were pleased. They would play nicely together and were getting along better than I thought they would. This is all starting to go downhill…I am running out of fun activities to entertain them all. My boys were the first to start complaining. They have watched all they want to watch, played the games they like to play, and played outside so much that even the fresh air has become dull. My girls were loving the crafts I busied them with. But, we have created so many different things that, at this point, I think they are crafted out…

I am out of ideas!!!!

I, like many other moms right now, have been searching for new things to do with our kids. There are so many suggestions online to keep busy with. My problem is, I have done so many of these things with my kids in the past that new stuff is few and far between. Plus, we have used up so much of my crafting stock pile that I need to replenish my stash before we can create anything else. Considering we only go out quickly for essentials, I have not been able restock anything in my craft cache. I could buy online but, for the next couple weeks, we really do not have the money to do so. Feeding everyone three meals a day is not a cheap undertaking, and bored children (especially teens) eat more. Therefore, extra crafting items is just not do-able right now.

Outside activities are normally a favorite with my kids, but the weather has not cooperated lately. Between rain, wind, and cold we have been stuck indoors for 3 days now. The weather for the rest of the week looks unpromising, so I guess we will either bundle up in layers to go for a walk, or suck it up and try to find something else to entertain us indoors.

Boy, I hope this pandemic is over soon….
